

LTSNU IIE BRIEF HISTORY AND INTERNATIONALIZATION
Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University (LTSNU) is one of the oldest universities in Ukraine that was founded on March 1, 1921. The University has had long and glorious way for more than one hundred years, it has survived fundamental changes in socio-political and economic life of Ukraine, dozens of education reforms and number of reorganizations. The institution was many times ranked as one of the top universities of Ukraine. In 2003 it was rewarded with the status of “National Higher Educational Institution”, and in 2008 it acquired status of classical university.
Complex social and political events in Ukraine became crucial point in the development of the University. Starting from 2014 – the year of the forced relocation of the University from the city of Luhansk due to Russian aggression and invasion of the Ukrainian territory – the University alongside with its international partners has been continuously struggling to preserve its scientific and educational potential, great institutional academic tradition established as long ago as 1921 and focused on the provision of premium quality educational and research services to citizens of Ukraine, as well as of foreign countries.
The later has determined the opening of the Institute of International Education within the University, the work of which is inseparably linked to the overall internationalization process at the University; based on main outcomes of internationally-funded projects, such as: 1) project within Erasmus+ KA2 Action – Capacity Building in the Field of Higher Education 586098-EPP-1-2017-1-UA-EPPKA2-CBHE-JP Modernization of Pedagogical Higher Education by Innovative Teaching Instruments; 2) cooperation with USA Embassy in Ukraine (University-based information and resource centre “Window in America”); 3) cooperation with foreign universities in the domain of internalization of higher education systems; 4) building connections with foreign enterprises and MSMEs (commercialization of researches), etc.
LTSNU IIE provides opportunities for students, researchers, teachers of different universities to carry out educational and research activities within internationalized institutional environment by means of introducing the best foreign practices in the process of education services provision, assistance in implementing international research projects of various types and directions.

LTSNU provides a fully remote (online) document submission process for foreign citizens who wish to enroll at the University at the Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) levels.
In order to ensure maximum accessibility of educational services and convenience for international applicants, the University organizes the following forms of remote interaction:
-
remote issuance of an invitation to study via the Unified Interagency Information System for the recruitment of foreign applicants to educational institutions (introduced in 2025), which ensures electronic creation, approval, and issuance of official invitations to study;

remote submission of documents through the University’s official electronic communication channels, enabling applicants to submit all necessary materials without personal presence in Ukraine;
-
conducting an online admission examination using modern video conferencing tools (Zoom, Microsoft Teams), during which the University’s committee assesses the applicant’s readiness to study in the chosen educational program.
The University guarantees adherence to the principles of academic integrity, transparency of admission procedures, equal access to education, and non-discrimination when organizing admission of international higher education applicants at all levels.
